Low-Income Household Electrical Savings 

In conjunction with its community-based member agencies throughout New York City, AEA acts as an implementer of the  EmPower program administered by NYSERDA. Services for low-income tenants or income-eligible homeowners through the EmPower program include: replacement of old, inefficient refrigerators with super-efficent, Energy Star refrigerators, installation of high-efficiency compact fluorescent bulbs and hard-wired lighting fixtures, and energy savings tips. Services target customers on the basis of energy usage and potential for energy-saving measures.  Household income eligibility is the same as for weatherization and HEAP - households under 60% of the State Median Income by household size.
