Building Analyst

 

As a BPI Affiliate and one of the Learning Centers in Hudson Valley Community College statewide network supported by NYSERDA, AEA provides this training to prepare students for BPI Certification as a Building Analyst.  Home Performance Contractors in New York are required to have staff with this certification in order to become accredited by BPI and approved for participation in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program.

 

The trainings consists of an overview of building science fundamentals, analysis of diagnostic equipment, assessment of building tightness and practical application of “blower door,” combustion safety and other diagnostics for assessing air leakage and efficiency in buildings. The BPI written test is given at the end of the Training.  Completion of certificaton also requires the successful completion of the BPI Field Test.  As a BPI Affiliate, AEA can schedule and Proctor the BPI Field exam as well.

Envelope Specialist

 

This training includes both classroom sessions and field experience that assists trainees in preparing for BPI’s written and field exams. Training includes a review of some Building Analyst I topics, but is not a preparatory course. Qualifying candidates may make special arrangements with BPI to take both tests simultaneously. The trainings consists of an overview of Health and Safety, Indoor Air Quality Assessment, Advanced Blower Door Applications, Insulation Techniques & Applications and other topics related to improving building envelope efficiency.
